Midleton
Tullamore Dew, Powers, Paddy, Jameson: probably the most famous Irish whiskeys all trace back to a single place – Midleton, County Cork, specifically the New Midleton Distillery, built in 1975 following the merger of Ireland's major whiskey houses into the Irish Distillers Group. This is where the heart of Irish whiskey beats.
Midleton has a far longer distilling history, however: the original Midleton Distillery was founded by the Murphy family as early as 1825, and still stands today – right next to the modern complex – as the visitor centre "The Jameson Experience". From the approachable Green Spot to the exclusive Redbreast, you will find the right bottle for every occasion in our selection.

How did Midleton become the centre of Irish whiskey?
In 1825, the Murphy family founded the Midleton Distillery on the site of an old wool mill. Around 1900, several smaller regional distilleries merged with Midleton to form the Cork Distilleries Company – a group that produced, among others, "Paddy" whiskey, named after the popular salesman Paddy Flaherty. In 1966, the Cork Distilleries Company merged with John Power & Son and John Jameson & Son to form the Irish Distillers Group, with the aim of concentrating production at a single, high-capacity site. In July 1975, the new Midleton Distillery began operating right next to the historic site; the old facility was converted into the visitor centre "The Jameson Experience". Today, Midleton belongs to Irish Distillers and, in turn, the Pernod Ricard group.
What is actually distilled at Midleton?
Practically every well-known Irish whiskey: Jameson, Tullamore Dew, Powers, and Paddy, as well as Redbreast, Green Spot, Yellow Spot, and Red Spot, plus the exclusive bottlings released under the Midleton name itself (such as Midleton Very Rare). Midleton is one of the last major centres of Irish single pot still whiskey – made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley, a style that nearly disappeared after the mid-20th century and was substantially kept alive by brands such as Green Spot and Redbreast.
Overview of the most popular bottlings
1. Green Spot Pure Pot Still
The classic among single pot still whiskeys.
Taste: Fresh, grassy-green with apple and spice notes, elegant and light on its feet.
Serving suggestion: A good introduction to the Irish pot still style.
2. Redbreast 12 Year Old
The world's most awarded single pot still whiskey.
Taste: Refined and fruity, with elegant sweetness and spicy depth.
Serving suggestion: A classic neat, or as the base for an Irish whiskey sour.
3. Powers Gold Label
The storied blend with a high pot still content.
Taste: Bold and spicy, with vanilla and a hint of malt.
Serving suggestion: Classic neat or in a whiskey highball.
