South African Whisky
In 1886, the sons of Captain James Sedgwick bought land on the Berg River near Wellington, laying the foundation for what remains, to this day, the only commercial whisky distillery on the entire African continent. This James Sedgwick Distillery is home to South Africa's two best-known brands: Three Ships, whose whisky history began in 1977 and bore fruit in 1981 with the first fully matured bottling, and Bain's Cape Mountain Whisky, which launched in 2009 as South Africa's first single grain whisky - named after Andrew Geddes Bain, who built the legendary Bainskloof Pass through the mountains near the distillery in 1853.Code: PFINGSTEN26
