Four Roses
In 1888, founder Paul Jones Jr. is said to have proposed to a Southern belle, who accepted and arrived at the grand ball wearing a corsage of four roses. That is how the bourbon from Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, got its name: Four Roses.
Four Roses is the only American whiskey distillery to continuously produce ten different bourbon recipes at once – two mash bills combined with five proprietary yeast strains. From the Four Roses Bourbon to the Single Barrel, you will find the right bottle for every occasion in our selection.

How did Four Roses return to US family ownership after 83 years?
Four Roses survived Prohibition in 1920 and later passed through various corporate owners. In 1997, Seagram acquired the brand and moved production to what is now the Four Roses Distillery, positioning it as direct competition to Jack Daniel's. After Seagram's breakup, Japan's Kirin Brewery Company bought the brand in February 2002 and founded Four Roses Distillery LLC. After more than two decades under Kirin, the next major step followed in April 2026: US wine group E. & J. Gallo Winery completed its acquisition of Four Roses for $775 million – bringing the brand back into American family ownership for the first time in 83 years. Master distiller Brent Elliott and all around 196 employees remained on board through the transition.
What makes Four Roses's ten recipes so distinctive?
Four Roses uses two different mash bills in combination with five proprietary yeast strains – yielding ten distinct bourbon recipes, all produced simultaneously year-round and later blended into the final bottlings. No other American whiskey distillery works with such a broad recipe repertoire.
Overview of the most popular bottlings
1. Four Roses Bourbon
The classic entry point into the brand, a blend of several of the ten recipes.
Taste: Fruity and floral with caramel and light spice.
Serving suggestion: A good all-rounder, neat or in a cocktail.
2. Four Roses Small Batch
A blend of four selected recipes.
Taste: Rounder and spicier than the standard bourbon.
Serving suggestion: For anyone wanting more depth.
3. Four Roses Single Barrel
Bottled from a single, hand-selected cask.
Taste: Intense and multi-layered with fruit, spice, and oak.
Serving suggestion: For bourbon connoisseurs who value cask individuality.
