In September 2018, William Grant & Sons attempted an unusual experiment: launching two brand-new single malt bottlings simultaneously, both from the same distillery but each emphasising a completely different maturation location. Aerstone Sea Cask matured for ten years in warehouses right on the Ayrshire coast of Scotland, where salty sea air seeps into the casks, while Aerstone Land Cask matures further inland and gains a distinctly smoky-sweet note from peated Highland malt.
