Hyde
Between 1640 and 1962, the Hyde family ran a bar at "Tinker's Cross" near Bandon in West Cork, where fine Irish whiskey and stout were poured straight from wooden casks across twelve generations. In 2014, brothers Conor and Alan Hyde picked up this centuries-old family legacy with their company Hibernia Distillers, founding the new Hyde Whiskey brand in Skibbereen on the Atlantic coast. The "President's Cask" series gets especially personal: it honours Douglas Hyde, Ireland's very first president - a namesake whose historic office serves as the inspiration for the family's numbered special bottlings, each carrying a different cask maturation.
