Espero
Espero – "hope" in old Spanish – takes its name from Vasco Núñez de Balboa, the Spanish explorer who in 1513 became the first European to cross Panama from the Atlantic to the Pacific. The rum house itself combines Dominican origins with Panamanian finishing.
Ron Espero stands for soft, honey-sweet rums, blended using the traditional solera method from Dominican base rums, some of them very old. From the Ron Espero Balboa to the matured XO Extra Añejo, you will find the right bottle for every occasion in our selection.

Why does a Dominican rum carry a name from Panamanian history?
Ron Espero originates in the Dominican Republic but is finished and bottled in Panama before being imported into Europe. The name references Vasco Núñez de Balboa, who in 1513 became the first European to cross the Isthmus of Panama, thereby discovering the Pacific Ocean – a reference also reflected in the product name Ron Espero Balboa. "Espero" itself is an old Spanish term for "hope".
What makes Espero's solera process distinctive?
The XO Extra Añejo blends, following the classic solera principle, Dominican rums aged a minimum of 12 and 18 years with further vintage rums from Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad, and Guyana aged 6 to 12 years. This elaborate blending of multiple origins and maturity levels is typical of high-quality aged rum blends and gives the brand its characteristic depth.
