Mossburn Distillers
Active under its own brand name since 2017, the independent Scottish bottler Mossburn Distillers – with roots reaching back to the 1990s – took a decisive step further in 2014: the company began converting a 200-year-old farmstead on the Isle of Skye into the Torabhaig distillery – the island's first new distillery since Talisker in 1830.
Mossburn stands both for carefully selected, independently bottled single casks from well-known distilleries and for its own Torabhaig range. As our bottlings come from individual, limited casks, the selection changes according to availability.

How did a bottler become a distillery operator?
The team behind Mossburn draws on over a century of family history in the Scotch whisky industry and has been blending and bottling spirits since the 1990s. The first bottlings under the "Mossburn" brand name itself appeared in 2017. In the same decade, the company took the step from pure bottler to distillery operator: in 2014, work began on converting a roughly 200-year-old farm building in Teangue on the Isle of Skye into the Torabhaig distillery – only the island's second licensed distillery, and its first since Talisker in 1830.
What defines Mossburn as an independent bottler?
Alongside building its own distilleries – which now also include the Reivers distillery in the Scottish Borders, specialising in mild grain whiskies – Mossburn remains true to its roots as an independent bottler: under the "Vintage Casks" range, carefully selected single casks from well-known distilleries such as Ardmore are bottled in limited quantities.
