George Dickel

In 1877, John F. Brown and F. E. Cunningham founded a distillery in Cascade Hollow, Tennessee, but it wasn't until 1884 that German-born Nashville merchant George Dickel acquired a controlling stake and simultaneously secured the exclusive bottling and distribution rights for Cascade Whisky. To this day, the brand deliberately spells its name without the "e" - "whisky" rather than "whiskey" - a nod to Scottish spelling that consciously sets George Dickel apart from most other American whiskeys. The slogan "Mellow as Moonlight" harks back to the historical practice of cooling the mash at night in cooler temperatures - a method that already contributed to Cascade Whisky's popularity back in the 1890s.
