Glenlossie
In 1971, the Distillers Company completed a second, more modern distillery on the grounds of the venerable Glenlossie distillery: Mannochmore. Rather than mothballing the older plant, as so often happens in such cases, an unusual solution was found: for decades a single workforce shared both operations, working six months of the year at one distillery and then the other - a stopgap born of the economically difficult 1980s and 90s that only ended in 2007. Since then, both sister distilleries have again produced independently and year-round at full capacity. Glenlossie itself was founded back in 1876 by John Duff, who later also established the neighbouring Longmorn distillery - his legacy lives on today in a delicate, fruity malt with notes of fresh hay.Code: PFINGSTEN26

What connects Glenlossie with Mannochmore?
Both distilleries shared the same workforce for decades: workers were based at Glenlossie in winter and at the neighbouring Mannochmore distillery in summer - a rare form of operational cooperation that ended in 2007. Since then, both distilleries have again run independently and year-round with their own staff.
Who was John Duff?
The founder of Glenlossie (1876) later made a name for himself chiefly by establishing the Longmorn distillery (1894), after an investment venture in South Africa had failed. Glenlossie remained his first major achievement.
