Dalmore
A distinctive twelve-point stag's head has adorned every bottle of Dalmore for decades – the emblem recalls a legend from 1263, in which a member of Clan Mackenzie saved King Alexander III from a charging stag. The Highland malt itself has been distilled on the Cromarty Firth since 1839.
Dalmore stands for a rich, elegant style with fine sherry sweetness and a light smoky note, shaped by the distillery's long-standing relationship with Oloroso sherry casks from the González Byass bodega. From the Dalmore 12 Year Old to the multi-layered 15 Year Old, you will find the right bottle for every occasion in our selection.

How did the stag end up on the Dalmore bottle?
According to legend, in 1263 a member of Clan Mackenzie saved King Alexander III from a charging twelve-point stag with a single arrow. Grateful, the king allowed the Mackenzies to bear a stag's head with the Gaelic motto "Cuidich 'n Righ" ("Help the King") on their crest from then on. Since the Mackenzie brothers Charles, Andrew, and Alexander ran the Dalmore distillery – founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson – from 1867 and took over as owners in 1891, the stag has adorned every bottle to this day.
Why does Dalmore mature for so long in Oloroso sherry casks?
With the Mackenzie takeover, the distillery's signature style, still in use today, was established from 1867: secondary maturation in Oloroso sherry casks from the Andalusian González Byass bodega. The Mackenzies also maintained close ties to Charles Mackay and James Whyte, whose joint firm Whyte & Mackay was for a long time the largest buyer of Dalmore malt and later became a co-owner. During the First World War, the Royal Navy used the distillery to manufacture mines; an explosion during decommissioning damaged the site, so whisky production only resumed in 1922, after a lengthy legal dispute.
Overview of the most popular bottlings
1. Dalmore 12 Year Old
The entry point into the house style – whisky writer Jim Murray once said that if you see it, you should "buy two bottles at once".
Taste: Sherry sweetness, orange peel, and a touch of smoke.
Serving suggestion: Neat, as an elegant introduction to the Highlands.
2. Dalmore 15 Year Old
The multi-layered, more mature core bottling.
Taste: Dried fruit, dark chocolate, and spice.
Serving suggestion: For anyone wanting Dalmore's sherry depth in more concentrated form.
3. Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve
Specifically tuned to pair with cigars.
Taste: Bold and spicy with dark fruit and tobacco-like notes.
Serving suggestion: As a digestif, classically paired with a cigar.
