Isautier
In 1833, Louis Isautier first set foot on the volcanic island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean; a year later his brother Charles followed. Their shared fascination with the island's lush sugar cane led to the founding of a distillery in 1845 that has remained in family hands for seven generations ever since - and is considered the oldest still-operating company on the entire island. When Charles died young, his widow Antoinette carried the business forward and had a new distillery built. Her grandson Alfred fundamentally modernised the company from 1910 onward, creating the distinctive triangular bottle that still sets Isautier rum apart on any shelf today.

Why is the bottle triangular?
Alfred Isautier, grandson of the founders, introduced the distinctive triangular bottle as a modernising trademark in the 1910s - a recognition feature that still sets the brand apart from other Réunion rums today.
What makes Isautier a special rhum agricole producer?
Isautier produces both classic molasses rum and true rhum agricole from freshly pressed cane juice - a dual expertise that is rare on the island. Réunion's volcanic mineral soil and trade winds give the sugar cane a distinctive, slightly maritime character.
Flavour profile
Taste: The white agricole rum is fresh and floral, while the aged Rhum Vieux bottlings show woody spice, ripe fruit and a gentle sweetness.
Recommended enjoyment: The white Rhum Traditionnel is ideal for a classic Ti-Punch, while the aged expressions are best enjoyed neat.
Start with the Isautier Rhum Blanc Traditionnel, or for special occasions choose the Isautier 12 Year Old Alfred Rhum Vieux.
