Puntacana
When Don Pedro Ramón Oliver travelled to the east coast of the Dominican Republic for his niece's wedding to a young North American, he spontaneously fell in love with the paradisiacal coastal town of Punta Cana - and decided to dedicate an entire rum collection to this landscape. As head of the House of Oliver & Oliver, which traces its roots back to the Mallorcan Juanillo Oliver in the mid-19th century, he brought decades of experience with so-called "mother rums" and long maturation in French and American oak barrels. The result: the Puntacana Club brand, named after the very region that so enchanted Don Pedro.

Why is the rum brand named after the famous resort town?
Don Pedro Ramón Oliver was so taken with the Punta Cana coastal region during a family wedding that he dedicated an entire rum line to it - an emotional tribute to the landscape, not merely a marketing decision.
What connects Puntacana to other brands like Presidente and Opthimus?
All come from the same house, Oliver & Oliver, built by the exiled Cuban Oliver family in the Dominican Republic - though each brand sets its own focus in maturation, style and naming.
Flavour profile
Taste: Spiced with exotic spices and fresh oak, behind which lie sweet chocolate and roasted coffee beans; on the palate, juicy dried fruit with carob and cardamom.
Recommended enjoyment: Neat as a digestif, to enjoy the full-bodied solera maturation.
Available as Puntacana Club Esplendido.
