Big Peat
The iconic bulbous nose on Big Peat's label has long since become a symbol in its own right for Islay whisky - the name itself plays bluntly on the word "peat". Behind this boldly smoky blended malt is independent bottler Douglas Laing, who combines whiskies from several famous Islay distilleries such as Bowmore, Ardbeg, Caol Ila and even the closed legend Port Ellen into a full-bodied blend, entirely natural with no added colour or chill filtration. Big Peat belongs to the "Remarkable Regional Malts" series, through which Douglas Laing dedicates its own blended malt to every Scotch whisky region - including Scallywag for Speyside, Timorous Beastie for the Highlands, The Epicurean for the Lowlands, Rock Oyster for the islands and The Gauldrons for Campbeltown.
