Gunroom
In the cramped quarters of the Royal Navy, directly beneath the quarterdeck, junior officers once gathered in the so-called "gunroom" - named after the cannons stored there. It's precisely this tradition of British navy rum that Swedish company Gunroom Spirits takes as its starting point: co-owner Lars Renbjer spent years researching the centuries-old art of "navy style" rum blending before composing, together with the experienced blenders at E&A Scheer in Amsterdam, a rum that reaches an impressive 65% ABV (130 proof) - a deliberate nod to the legendary, overproof navy rums of centuries past.

Why is the brand called "Gunroom"?
The name refers to the mess quarters of junior naval officers on British warships, located right next to the gun store - traditionally also where the Royal Navy's daily rum ration was issued.
Where does the rum in the blend come from?
Gunroom Navy Rum blends predominantly pot still rums from former British colonies - Barbados, Trinidad and Jamaica - complemented by a bold Guyanese rum, distilled in a historic 19th-century still once used by the Royal Navy itself.
Flavour profile
Taste: Extremely bold and intense with dark molasses, spice and a pronounced, ester-rich funky note - a genuine cask-strength rum for connoisseurs.
Recommended enjoyment: Given its high strength of 65% ABV, best diluted with water or ice, or as a powerful base for a classic Navy grog.
