The Teeling Whisky Company
As early as 1782, Walter Teeling founded a distillery on Dublin's Marrowbone Lane – and with John Teeling, who founded the groundbreaking Cooley Distillery in 1987, and his sons Jack and Stephen, the family remained devoted to Irish whiskey for centuries. In 2015, they finally brought a working distillery back to Dublin after a gap of 125 years.
The Teeling Whiskey Distillery is located in Dublin's Liberties district, just a stone's throw from Walter Teeling's historic site. From the Teeling Single Malt to the unusual Blackpitts Peated, you will find the right bottle for every occasion in our selection.

How did one family bring Dublin its distillery back?
After John Teeling sold the Cooley Distillery he had founded in 1987 – for a long time Ireland's only whiskey distillery not owned by a large group – to Jim Beam at the end of 2011, his sons Jack and Stephen founded the independent Teeling Whiskey Company in 2012. They initially marketed sourced whiskeys under their own name, before their own distillery opened at Newmarket in Dublin's Liberties in 2015 – the city's first working distillery since Jameson had moved production to Midleton in the 1970s.
What makes Teeling taste so experimental?
The Teelings deliberately position themselves as innovators of Irish whiskey tradition: unusual cask types, atypical mash bills, and modern distillation approaches shape the range – from single grain to single malt to the peated Blackpitts, a rarity in the predominantly unpeated world of Irish whiskey.
Overview of the most popular bottlings
1. Teeling Single Malt Whiskey
The distillery's signature whiskey, matured in five different wine casks.
Taste: Fruity and sweet, with the depth typical of wine cask finishing.
Serving suggestion: A good introduction to modern Irish single malt.
2. Teeling Single Grain Irish Whiskey
Finished in Californian Cabernet Sauvignon casks.
Taste: Unusually deep colour, delicately sweet, lightly spicy and fruity.
Serving suggestion: A discovery for anyone new to single grain.
3. Teeling Blackpitts Peated
The peated outlier in the range.
Taste: Smoky, with fruity sweetness in the background.
Serving suggestion: For anyone seeking peated whiskey beyond Scotland and Islay.
