Glengoyne
Glengoyne's still house sits on the Highland side of the boundary road known as the West Highland Way, while the warehouses directly opposite already lie in the Lowlands – making the distillery literally straddle the border between the two regions. Glengoyne is officially classed as a Highland distillery.
Glengoyne stands for a consistently unpeated, very soft and gentle style – shaped by sherry cask maturation and the rare, low-yield Golden Promise barley variety. From the approachable Glengoyne 10 Year Old to the more mature 15 Year Old, you will find the right bottle for every occasion in our selection.

Why does a distillery literally straddle the Highland-Lowland border?
Distilling has taken place at the foot of the Dumgoyne hills for over 200 years, initially unofficially. In 1833, George Connell received the first official licence under the name "Burnfoot". In 1876, the Lang Brothers of Glasgow bought the distillery and renamed it Glen Guin, with the name changing again to Glengoyne in 1905. In 1965, Robertson & Baxter took over the Lang Brothers and thoroughly modernised the site. Since 2003, Glengoyne has belonged to Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd. – making it one of the few major Scottish distilleries still in independent family ownership today.
What makes Glengoyne stand out among unpeated malts?
Because no peat could be found on site, Glengoyne was forced to use unpeated malt from the very start – a necessity that became a defining trademark maintained to this day. Alongside Macallan, Glengoyne is also one of the very few distilleries still working with the old, low-yielding Golden Promise barley variety. Predominant maturation in sherry casks makes the malts especially soft, lightly sweet, and rich in Christmas-baking aromas.
Overview of the most popular bottlings
1. Glengoyne 10 Year Old

2. Glengoyne 12 Year Old

Taste: Fruity and spicy with sherry depth.
Serving suggestion: A good everyday all-rounder.
3. Glengoyne 15 Year Old
