Chivas Regal
In 1801, John Forrest opened a grocery and wine merchant business in Aberdeen, Scotland, which later passed to brothers James and John Chivas - both were grocers first, long before turning to whisky distilling. In 1843, James Chivas achieved a decisive career leap: Queen Victoria granted him a Royal Warrant during her summer stays at Balmoral, giving the business considerable prestige among the British upper classes. The actual Chivas Regal whisky brand, however, wasn't created until 1909, when the company launched the 25-year-old Chivas Regal, the world's very first luxury whisky - the now-famous 12-year-old followed shortly after, turning the brand into a global icon.CODE: BLACK25
