Coloma
In 1959, young entrepreneur Alberto Constain Medina became the owner of a late-19th-century country house in Fusagasugá, Colombia – with no idea that decades later it would give rise to its own rum brand. It was only in 2005, when the Colombian government relaxed its state monopoly on spirits, that Constain Medina seized the opportunity, developing his own rum together with Colombian rum masters Sandra Reategui and Judith Ramirez.
Coloma is distilled from the juice of two different sugarcane varieties and matured for eight years in American oak casks. With Coloma 8 Year Old, you will find the core bottling of this still-young but already multiple-award-winning Colombian brand in our selection.

How did a country house become a rum brand?
In 1959, young entrepreneur Alberto Constain Medina acquired a late-19th-century country house in Fusagasugá, in the heart of Colombia. Rum played no part in this at the time – it was only in 2005, when the Colombian government relaxed its decades-long state monopoly on spirits production, that Constain Medina saw his opportunity. Together with Colombian rum masters Sandra Reategui and Judith Ramirez, he developed the recipe for Coloma.
What defines the Coloma style?
Coloma is distilled from the juice of two different sugarcane varieties – a process that differs from the molasses-based rums common in the Caribbean. After distillation, the rum matures for eight years in American oak casks before bottling. A special variant, the Coffee Smoked, additionally combines the brand's base character with smoked coffee notes.
