From the stocks of over 30 Diageo distilleries, experienced experts have selected exceptional casks each year since 2001 for a limited collection of rare cask-strength Scotch whiskies – the Diageo Special Releases 2022 form the 21st annual instalment of this series, themed around Scottish myths and legends and visually accompanied by mythical creatures on every label.
The 2022 collection comprises eight rare bottlings from Lagavulin, Talisker, Clynelish, Mortlach, The Singleton of Glen Ord, Cardhu, Oban, and Cameronbridge. As this is a limited annual edition, some bottlings have already sold out.

What are the Diageo Special Releases – and since when have they existed?
Since 2001, Diageo has published a limited collection of especially rare single malts and grain whiskies, mostly bottled at natural cask strength, every autumn. The series grew out of the earlier "Rare Malts" programme of the 1990s and has become one of the best-known and most eagerly awaited releases in the entire Scotch whisky industry. In 2019, Diageo fundamentally reworked the concept, shrinking the collection to around eight bottlings and giving it a unified annual theme.
What was the theme of the 2022 edition?
The 2022 collection was themed around Scottish myths and legends: mythical creatures adorned the labels of eight bottlings from such well-known distilleries as Lagavulin, Talisker, Clynelish, Mortlach, The Singleton of Glen Ord, Cardhu, Oban, and the grain distillery Cameronbridge.
