Old Bert
In 1863, the Michler family founded a trading house in Silesia - now part of the Czech Republic - that soon supplied the imperial court and navy with the finest rum. The modern Old Bert brand draws on this heritage, named after Albert Michler, whom friends affectionately called "Old Bert" - a bearded, bespectacled top-hatted figure still adorns the brand's logo today. Rather than relying on the often excessive sweetness typical of spiced rums, the Albert Michler Distillery deliberately chose 100% pot still Jamaican rum as its base: a characterful, ester-rich spirit that gives the added spices and fruit room to shine instead of drowning them out.

Who was the real "Old Bert"?
Albert Michler, affectionately known as "Old Bert", represents the trading house founded in Silesia in 1863 that once supplied the imperial court and navy. The distinctive logo featuring a top hat and glasses is a direct homage to him.
What sets Old Bert apart from other spiced rums?
Instead of a neutral rum base, Old Bert uses 100% pot still Jamaican rum - a deliberately characterful, slightly rough spirit with a pronounced ester note, refined with lime, vanilla, clove, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and pepper, without drowning in sugary sweetness.
Flavour profile
Taste: Spiced and fruity with a noticeable Jamaican funk note, lime and warm spices, always restrained in sweetness rather than overly sugary.
Recommended enjoyment: Neat, on the rocks, or as an aromatic base for tiki cocktails and the classic rum and ginger ale.
