Worthy Park
Founded in 1670 and growing sugarcane since 1720, Worthy Park is one of the oldest surviving estates in Jamaica – rum was first produced here as early as 1741, predating any other Jamaican distillery still active today. Since 1918, the estate has belonged to the Clarke family, now led by Gordon Clarke in its fourth generation.
Revived in 2005, Worthy Park is today one of the last producers of pure pot-still rum in Jamaica using traditional methods – and one of only two remaining fully Jamaican-owned rum distilleries on the island. With Worthy Park Single Estate Reserve, you will find the premium bottling of this "single estate" rum in our selection.

Why is Worthy Park considered a "single estate" rum?
Unlike most rum brands, which source molasses or distillate from various suppliers, Worthy Park grows its own sugarcane on its own estate of over 10,000 acres in Saint Catherine Parish – around 40 percent of the land is devoted to sugarcane cultivation. From harvest through distillation to maturation, the entire process therefore stays in one pair of hands, making Worthy Park one of the last true "single estate" rum producers in Jamaica.
How did the distillery survive the difficult years of the Jamaican rum industry?
The Clarke family took over the estate back in 1918 and still runs it today – currently in its fourth generation under Gordon Clarke. After a difficult period, the distillery was fundamentally revived and modernised in 2005 and has since been regarded as one of the island's most storied yet most modern rum production sites: 100 percent pot-still distillation using centuries-old methods, combined with contemporary technology.
