Hibiki

In 1989, to mark Suntory's 90th anniversary, then-company president Keizo Saji released Hibiki - Japanese for "resonance" or "echo" - a blended whisky creation still regarded today as the epitome of Japanese whisky craftsmanship. The blend of malt whisky from the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries together with grain whisky from Chita brings together three entirely different characters into an exceptionally balanced whole. Just as considered is the bottle itself: its 24 facets represent the 24 traditional Japanese micro-seasons (sekki), while the bottle's neck shimmers in a purple hue called kokimurasaki - a colour once reserved exclusively for Japanese nobility.
