The traditional distillery Glengoyne from the Scottish Highlands produces its single malts in a classic, tradition-conscious manner from unpeated barley of the Golden Promise variety.
Glengoyne 25 year old matured for over 25 years in former Spanish sherry casks and developed into a truly premium single malt with clear fruity notes of ripe berries and stone fruits, as well as juicy dried fruits and spicy oak.
Tasting Notes: This is what the Glengoyne 25 year old tastes like
- Nose: intense aromas of ripe red berries, plus dark plums and black cherries - above all mild heather honey, spicy oak and old leather
- Palate: mouth-filling and velvety smooth with an almost creamy texture - again the berries and plums, plus notes of dates and raisins - plus clearly spicy hints of cinnamon, oak and some coriander
- Finish: very long in the finish - the fruity notes are present, but take a back seat and make room for the creamy-spicy side of the single malt with notes of anise seed, cinnamon and oak wood
