Profile: What Makes Chivas Regal 25 Year Old Special
Chivas Regal 25 Year Old is a rare, exclusive blend of fine Scotch whiskies, all aged at least 25 years. The anchor is Strathisla single malt from the Strathisla Distillery in Keith, Moray, one of the oldest continuously operating distilleries in Scotland. Malts from Longmorn, The Glenlivet, Allt-a-Bhainne, Miltonduff and Braes of Glenlivet and grain whisky from Strathclyde are added.
Every cask is individually nosed and hand-selected by the master blender; the finished blend is bottled only twice a year and each bottle is individually numbered.
Tasting Notes: What Chivas Regal 25 Year Old Tastes Like
- Nose: Dried fruit – raisin, apricot, peach – leads into sweet orange peel and a layer of marzipan; toasted nuts and a faint whisper of smoke beneath
- Palate: Velvety and immediately rich, with milk chocolate orange and fondant cream; soft, sweet, balanced, orange, floral, then oak; quite oily at first then drier, with dried flowers and spicy ginger
- Finish: Medium to long; complex oak comes through, plus 70% dark chocolate and coffee beans
