Clydeside
In the red-brick pumphouse of the historic Queen's Dock on the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow stands the Clydeside Distillery, established in 2017. The Victorian building, built in 1877 by Glasgow engineer John Morrison, once supplied the hydraulic pressure for the dock's giant swing bridge, as ships from around the world unloaded tobacco, sugar, cotton, and timber.
The distillery is run by Tim Morrison, great-grandson of the original builder and former co-owner of Morrison Bowmore, before that company was sold to Beam Suntory in 1994. From Clydeside Stobcross to Napier, you will find the right bottle for every occasion in our selection.

What role did the pumphouse play in Glasgow's port empire?
In 1877, Glasgow engineer John Morrison built the red sandstone building as the central pumphouse for Queen's Dock. The hydraulic power generated here operated the dock's giant swing bridge, through which ships carrying tobacco, sugar, cotton, and timber from across the British Empire entered the harbour – a symbol of Glasgow's former significance as one of the world's greatest trading cities.
How did the pumphouse become a distillery?
Tim Morrison, great-grandson of builder John Morrison, now runs the Clydeside Distillery through Morrison Glasgow Distillers. The Morrison family previously owned Morrison Bowmore until selling the company to Beam Suntory in 1994. Construction of the new distillery in the historic pumphouse began on 1 August 2016, the first distillation took place on 6 November 2017, and the visitor centre opened on 23 November. On 15 October 2021, Clydeside finally introduced its very first own single malt.
