Tormore

Region: Speyside

The eye finally drinks.

With the Tormore Distillery, the famous architect Sir Albert Richardson has created a very special gem. The elegant white buildings are crowned by green copper roofs. Windows and doors are framed by gray slate. In front of the entrance portal, carefully cut bushes in the form of pot stills line the way. A distress that can only be admired from the outside - Tormore receives no visitors. And it's amazing that this tasteful, traditional-looking ensemble was created relatively recently. Tormore was built in 1958.

A little history

The Tormore distillery was built in 1958 by Long John Distillers. Located in the heart of the Speyside area, Grantown-on-Spey, the distillery was the first Scottish distillery of the 20th century. Designed by the renowned architect Sir Arthur Richardson, the buildings are already under monument protection despite their young age.
In 1972, the number of stills was doubled from four to eight. The distillery was 1975 first to Whitbread & Co., which were taken over in 1989 by Allied Lyons (later Allied Domecq). Since the acquisition of Allied Domecq by Chivas Brothers / Pernod Ricard in 2005, Tormore belongs to the French Pernod Ricard Group. Almost the entire production is used for the blended whiskeys from Chivas.

What do I have in the glass?

The Tormore is a very versatile malt. Depending on the filling is more of a fruity sweetness, luscious sherry notes or a dry Nussigkeit in the foreground.

3 reasons to love Tormore

1) Because we are always receptive to beauty.

2) Because Tormore proves taste in every way.

3) Because not everything was better in the old days.

The one drama for the lonely island

The 16-year-old original bottling with unusual 48% is an exceptional malt. Intense, fruity aromas; a soft, round body; an almost juicy taste with the sweetness of ripe melons and pears and a wonderfully long finish.
