Heaven Hill

Heaven Hill was founded in 1935 in Bardstown, Kentucky by the Shapira family, who still own the majority of the company today.
Heaven Hill is the last independent whiskey producer in the USA.
The name goes back to a family called "Heavenhill", which is said to have burned schnapps here as early as the 18th century.

Until the year 1996, Heaven Hill owned 44 warehouses with 20,000 barrels of whiskey each - one of the largest whiskey inventories in the US.
In November of the same year, during a storm, lightning struck one of the warehouses, triggering a devastating fire, one warehouse after another, and thus several million liters of whiskey exploded, robbing the flames.

After this devastating event, one evaded the Brown Forman's Early Times Distillery.
In 1999, the distillery Bernheim in Louisville was acquired and a reconstruction of the distillery in Bardstown is planned.
