With the Blair Athol 10 year old "The Monuments of Scotland," Signatory Vintage pays a double tribute to a Scottish icon. The popular Monuments series is returning after a four-year break - appearing for the first time in an elegant Ibisco decanter and bottled at a robust 50.8% ABV.

Anyone who thinks monuments belong only in history books and travel brochures will be proven wrong here: this series pairs famous Scottish landmarks with exceptional single malts.

For this bottling, the choice fell on the legendary Glenfinnan Viaduct. This impressive railway bridge in the Highlands is one of Scotland’s most famous structures, attracting visitors from around the globe year after year. Since its completion in 1901, it has connected regions, people, and stories - a fitting parallel to a whisky that unites tradition, craftsmanship, and heritage.

The whisky is based on a single malt from the historic Blair Athol Distillery in Pitlochry. The distillery boasts a history dating back to 1798, making it one of the oldest active distilleries in Scotland. Nestled in the Highlands, Blair Athol has produced whiskies of distinctive character for generations and remains a stalwart of the Scottish whisky world.

This Blair Athol was distilled on December 1, 2015, before being bottled in April 2026 as a ten-year-old expression. For its maturation, selected first-fill ex-Oloroso sherry butts - each with a capacity of around 500 liters - were employed. Specifically, casks numbered 2, 6, 7, and 8 were used, combining to create a carefully composed small batch.

The whisky was bottled by Signatory Vintage, one of Scotland’s most renowned independent bottlers. The company is known for its transparent approach and for avoiding unnecessary interventions. True to this philosophy, this Blair Athol is neither chill-filtered nor artificially colored - adhering to the principle that what time has created in the cask should make its way into the glass exactly as it is.

A whisky with a story, then - and one requiring significantly less maintenance than a 120-year-old viaduct.
