Some monuments tell stories in stone. Others in glass. The Auchentoshan 13 year old “The Monuments of Scotland” clearly belongs to the latter category. With this special bottling, Signatory Vintage’s popular series makes its comeback after a four-year break, once again pairing famous Scottish landmarks with exceptional single malts. New features include the elegant Ibisco decanter and a robust bottling strength of 50.8% ABV - after all, a whisky honoring such a landmark ought to make a lasting impression.

The inspiration for this bottling comes from the impressive St Andrews Cathedral. Once Scotland's largest church, its ruins still define the Fife coastline today. Although the cathedral has withstood the elements for centuries, it continues to draw visitors from around the globe. This makes it the perfect namesake for a whisky that is also steeped in history.

The underlying single malt comes from the historic Auchentoshan Distillery. The distillery is one of the most renowned Lowland producers and holds a special place in the world of Scotch whisky. Its hallmark is triple distillation - a rarity in Scotland, a process usually associated more with Irish whiskey. Whisky has been produced at Auchentoshan since the early 19th century, and the distillery has survived turbulent times, including severe damage during the Second World War.

For this bottling, the whisky was distilled on April 16, 2013, and bottled in April 2026 after a maturation period of 13 years. This makes it significantly older than many of the distillery's standard releases. It was finished in selected 1st-fill ex-Oloroso sherry butts with a capacity of around 500 liters. Casks numbered 1, 2, 3, and 5 were combined to create this small batch.

The whisky was bottled by Signatory Vintage, one of Scotland's most respected independent bottlers. Naturally, no chill-filtration or coloring agents were used.

This bottling thus unites several distinctive Scottish elements: a historic cathedral, an exceptional Lowland distillery, and an independent bottler with a flair for character. A whisky worthy of a monument - though with a far better chance of securing a spot in your drinks cabinet than in a history book.
