A wildcat with golden eyes - 2022 Special Release
According to legend, Clynelish was once struck by an epic snowstorm.
The storm's unnatural cold threatened to ruin the prized Casks.
Its contents froze in the glacial winds until a mysterious feline creature suddenly appeared.
Braving the freezing temperatures, she turned her hypnotically golden eyes to the Casks, enveloping them in a cocoon of magical warmth.
The salvaged oak transformed, with rare depths of mysterious and glowing spice, forever protected from the cold.
Clynelish is a truly remote distillery in the Scottish Highlands.
The area is also the natural habitat of the unapproachable Scottish wildcat, Felix Sylvestris.
Few of these elusive animals remain and they are rarely sighted.
But the wildcat symbol adorns the Clynelish Distillery and guards it for all eternity.
Shining like a golden eye in the midst of the light, this Clynelish 12 Year Old shows a spicier side to its bright fruitiness and waxy texture.
The rich liquid shines with complex aromas of fruit, herbs and deeper, fragrant oak spice.
After an extended secondary maturation in Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks, the smooth texture and rich wine-sweet aromas are reminiscent of peppery spice.
A single malt as rare and elusive as its mysterious guardian.
Nose: Creamy aromas soon give way to light but complex fruit and herbal aromas - plus subtle, subtle hints of fruity pie filling, canned pears and even heather honey, in the background spicy oak - a drop of water enhances the herbal note while bringing a waxy note with himself
Palate: A very smooth, mouth-filling texture results in a vibrant flavor that is rich and wine-sweet overall - a peppery, oaky spiciness underneath - with a little water the sweetness intensifies
Finish: long and spicy finish with peppery notes - becoming creamier and spicier with a little water
