According to legend, one fateful night the moon in the Mortlach sky turned blood red and a strange natural spectacle took place.
"The Beast of Dufftown" morphed under the reddish glow and floated through the night sky; a mythical creature pulled upwards by the mesmerizing crimson orb.
Deep within the stills of Mortlach echoed the glow of the blood moon, and its alluring ruby richness and dark complexity gave Mortlach its rare enchanting character.
Nestled in its dark, historic valley, Mortlach has long fascinated lovers with its deep and magnetic character.
Things are different here: the whiskey is distilled 2.81 times in six stills, which are arranged in a unique way.

Bold yet mysterious.
Shimmering in ruby red light, this legendary whiskey has been matured in Virgin Oak, Tawny Port and Red Muscat casks that underscore its deep amber colour.
Intense aromas of rich wine and sweet grape characterize this whisky.
The lively, sweet and fruity taste beguiles with numerous nuances and a certain ginger spiciness, accentuated by the original partial maturation in virgin oak.
Nose: bold, savory, rich flavors reminiscent of a hearty cassoulet of white beans, tomatoes, savory sausage and crispy pork belly, then grapes and red wine - with a little water, the spiciness softens to reveal sweet red fruit
Palate: rich and smooth, mouth-filling texture, while the deep and intense flavor is sweet-fruity rather than fleshy and spicy-dry, plus spicy oak with hints of ginger - with a little water, a delicious, harmonious and strong blend of fruitiness and the Black pepper seasoning
Finish: long and powerful with ripe fruit and black pepper
