There are only a few malts that have such complexity and smokiness as the 16 year old Lagavulin.
It starts off sweet and then develops its spiciness and peatiness with force.
Jim Murray, who Whisky author and critic writes about him: "Lagavulin should be enjoyed with caution, but with reverence. This is not a malt, that you sip lightly - it devours you!"
Tasting Notes: This is how the Lagavulin 16 year old tastes like
- Nose: strong with lots of smoke, iodine and a sweet spice - reminiscent of strong green tea, with sherry tones and creamy vanilla
- Palate: strong and rich in taste, full mouthfeel with a fruity Sweetness and Sherry - lots of peat and oak
- Finish: long, spicier Finish - the peat smoke again, plus dates, figs and vanilla

Diesmal war ich enttäuscht. Lagavulin kenne ich besser.

Habe ich für meinen Mann gekauft. Er liebt diesen Whisky. Obwohl er nicht ganz so troflastig ist wie viele andere seiner Sammlung. Ein super Kauf.

Ich habe diesen Lagavulin auf Empfehlung als Geschenk gekauft, da ich auf diesem
Gebiet keine Erfahrung habe, dieses Weihnachtsgeschenk hat eingeschlagen wie eine
Bombe, der Beschenkte kannte Lagavulin auch nur aus Gesprächen und freute sich riesig
und das anschließende verkosten des Lagavulin war ein Gedicht, der rauchige Geschmack
hat sehr schnell neue Liebhaber für Lagavulin gewinnen lassen, ein toller Whiskey

Die Bewertungen anderer Whiskeygenieser haben nicht zu viel versprochen. Der Lagavulin besticht durch eine angenehme Milde und hat dabei doch Tiefe und überrascht mit Aromen. Ein Malt, der auch Anfänger begeistern kann und dennoch Reiz für den erfahrenen Whiskeyliebhaber entfaltet. Angesichts der zunehmenden Knappheit an alten Malts auch preislich ein gutes Angebot.

Dunkle Farbe, Nase fruchtig süß,
Sehr viel süße, gut torfig (ähnlich Laphroaig)
langer fruchtiger Abgang, leicht troccken.
Absolut köstlich
