There are only a few malts that have such complexity and smokiness as the 16 year old Lagavulin.
It starts off sweet and then develops its spiciness and peatiness with force.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Lagavulin 16 year old tastes like
- Nose: strong with lots of smoke, iodine and a sweet spice - reminiscent of strong green tea, with sherry tones and creamy vanilla
- Palate: strong and rich in taste, full mouthfeel with a fruity Sweetness and Sherry - lots of peat and oak
- Finish: long, spicier Finish - the peat smoke again, plus dates, figs and vanilla

Schon wenn einem die ersten Nuancen in die Nase kommen bemerkt man einen kräftigen Geruch von Torfnoten. Zudem nimmt auch etwas jodiges, rauchiges und phenolisch wahr.
Der Single Malt hat insgesamt einen trockenen, rauchigen Geschmack. Zudem wirkt er gleichzeitig salzig mit etwas Sherry Süße und auf der anderen Seite auch etwas ölig, likörig. Man hat unter dem Strich einen sehr komplexen und auch torfigen Whisky.
Der Angang des 16 jährigen Lagavulin ist sehr langanhalten mit einer malzigen Süße, dazu kommt das er unglaublich intensiv torfig-rauchig ist.
Der Lagavulin ist für mich einer der kraftvollsten Whiskys überhaupt, somit etwas für richtige Whiskyliebhaber und sollte in keiner Sammlung fehlen.

Für mich eine, wenn nicht die beste Whiskey-Sorte schlechthin !!! Sehr mild und sehr rauchig, ein Genuss !!! Wer auf die rauchigen Sorten steht, wir nach dem ersten Schluck süchtig !!!!
