There are only a few malts that have such complexity and smokiness as the 16 year old Lagavulin.
It starts off sweet and then develops its spiciness and peatiness with force.
Jim Murray, who Whisky author and critic writes about him: "Lagavulin should be enjoyed with caution, but with reverence. This is not a malt, that you sip lightly - it devours you!"
Tasting Notes: This is how the Lagavulin 16 year old tastes like
- Nose: strong with lots of smoke, iodine and a sweet spice - reminiscent of strong green tea, with sherry tones and creamy vanilla
- Palate: strong and rich in taste, full mouthfeel with a fruity Sweetness and Sherry - lots of peat and oak
- Finish: long, spicier Finish - the peat smoke again, plus dates, figs and vanilla

Bis jetzt mein absoluter Liebling
Der Lagavulin war der erste Whisky den ich getrunken hab und ich habe mich sofort in ihn verliebt!! Das Gerücht, rauchiger Whisky sei eher was für Erfahrenere Whiskytrinker, hat sich bei mir deshalb nicht bestätigt. Ich kann also auch jedem Anfänger nur empfehlen: Probiert diesen guten Tropfen aus!

Aroma: deutliche rauchige Torfnase, dahinter süß, erst Sherry, dann auch leichte Vanille-, Holz- und Gewürztöne
Geschmack: trockene Sherrysüße, kaum Gewürzton und nur Spuren von Vanille, mittelschwerer Körper
Abgang: lang, trocken und rauchig
Kommentar: sehr lecker, gehört zu meinen Favoriten

Ein Klassiker, schön torfig, mit gutem Abgang - unverkennbar. Die 16 Jahre machen ihn zudem angenehm rund.
