There are only a few malts that have such complexity and smokiness as the 16 year old Lagavulin.
It starts off sweet and then develops its spiciness and peatiness with force.
Jim Murray, who Whisky author and critic writes about him: "Lagavulin should be enjoyed with caution, but with reverence. This is not a malt, that you sip lightly - it devours you!"
Tasting Notes: This is how the Lagavulin 16 year old tastes like
- Nose: strong with lots of smoke, iodine and a sweet spice - reminiscent of strong green tea, with sherry tones and creamy vanilla
- Palate: strong and rich in taste, full mouthfeel with a fruity Sweetness and Sherry - lots of peat and oak
- Finish: long, spicier Finish - the peat smoke again, plus dates, figs and vanilla

So muss ein Malt schmecken! Nach Tang, Torf und Salzwasser...

Einer der besten Single Malts überhaupt, wenn man die Einsteigerphase eine Weile hinter sich gelassen hat. Sicher eine Rauchbombe, aber auch mit einem Überfluss an Aromen, die dem ersten, rauchigen Eindruck nachfolgen und ihn zu einem Erlebnis werden lassen. Das tolle an ihm ist, dass dazu keine besonderen Nach- und / oder Umlagerungen in diversen geschmackgebenden Fässern erfolgen. So mag ich es. Eine pure Köstlichkeit.

Standard_Whisky für meinen "Everyday"-Bedarf. Sollte in keiner Sammlung fehlen, wenn man auch torfige Whisky´s steht.
