Portrait : What makes Speyburn 10 year old special
The Scottish Speyburn distillery was founded in 1897 in a deep valley between the towns of Elgin and Rothes.
The location and the Victorian construction make this Speyside distillery one of the most beautiful and attractive in the country.
The Speyburn matures for ten long years in the Scottish Speyside, classically twice distilled in copper pot stills.
Selected American Oak Casks previously used for Bourbon and former Spanish Sherry Casks were used.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Speyburn 10 year old tastes like
- Nose: clearly citrus fruits and orange peel, fresh herbs - especially mint - pine and oak - sweet, malted barley
- Palate: soft in taste, again the herbs and the sweetness, anise and malt - some smoke in the background
- Finish: long, slightly sweet finish with lots of barley and malt
