Profile: What Makes Isautier 10 Year Old Special
Matured in European white oak casks and made from the best sugar cane, this premium rum from La Réunion is monitored for its maturation over ten years to present the best of the island. It is a very dark rum, shimmering in gold and amber, with a very spicy, complex aroma with nuances of tannins.
Isautier is La Réunion’s oldest rum house: Louis Isautier moved to the island in 1832, his brother Charles followed him, and in 1845 Charles founded their own factory with his wife Antoinette. The house created the island’s first large-scale industrial distillery; its rums mature in the cellars of Saint-Pierre.
On the palate the 10 year old is delicate and develops subtle notes of candied fruit – a perfect rum for ending the evening with friends after a meal.
