Portrait: What makes the Bladnoch Vinaya special
Bladnoch Vinaya is the first bottling from the Bladnoch distillery with shares from the new production after the distillery reopened in 2017.
It is a mix of new and old, i.e. distillates from the old stills were in operation until 2009 as well as from the new distillation system, which was put into operation in 2017.
Both first-fill exBourbon and first-fill exOloroso Sherry Casks are used.
These harmonious and floral bottling is the first quality that contains Casks from old and new production.
"Vinaya" means respect and gratitude in Sanskrit - a homage to the founders and previous owners of the distillery.
