Portrait: What makes the Longrow Peated special
The Longrow Peated is the peaty ambassador of Campbeltown - a whisky that immediately signals: “Something special is happening here.” Springbank dries the barley for 48 hours over peat fires, which is almost as if each individual grain contains a small unit of smoke. In short: Anyone who gets their hands on Longrow Peated knows immediately that this isn't a gentle, beginner's whisky, but a robust, maritime vessel that proudly sails the waves.
The distillery is steeped in tradition, but also selective: Fewer than 100 casks per year even make it into bottles. So, anyone who manages to snag a bottle can feel a bit like a treasure hunter who's discovered a secret coastal cave on the Scottish peninsula – only without the wellies and rain. What makes Longrow Peated so special is the combination of Campbeltown's salty air and a powerful peat note. When you encounter it, you can almost hear the sound of seagulls over the warehouses as the maritime character and the peatiness embrace each other – without even having to get on a boat.
Springbank demonstrates here that uncompromising craftsmanship and a touch of coastal rebellion go together beautifully. Longrow Peated is not a whisky for cautious moments. It is proud, self-assured, and wears its peat like a badge of honor. At the same time, it has enough charm to take any connoisseur on a little smoky journey of discovery – without even leaving the house. In short: Longrow Peated is a characterful whisky from Campbeltown.
Strong, distinctive, and with a playful nod to peat and saltwater. Anyone who puts it on their shelf isn't getting a timid dram – but a whisky with attitude, coastal flair, and a dash of adventure. Slàinte!
Tasting Notes: This is how the Longrow Peated tastes like
- Nose: Salty and with a leathery smokiness reminiscent of a Campbeltown dockworker's damp leather jacket - robust, direct, and typically maritime.
- Palate: Initially light and sweet with notes of green apples and rhubarb, before a robust dose of smoke emerges, giving the whisky character and depth.
- Finish: Returning to sea salt and smoke, long-lasting and impressive, like the salty breeze over a Campbeltown beach.

Herrlich

Schöner rauchiger whisky für Leute denen Islay zu heftig ist. Der Rauch kommt auf Umwegen und ohne das penetrant Phenolische. Gelbe Früchte im Vordergrund. Ganz klare Empfehlung!
