Portrait: What makes the Laphroaig Quarter Cask
This Laphroaig initially matured in ex-bourbon casks. Its name Quarter Cask it carries due to its post-maturation in quite small barrels with a volume of 127 to 159 liter, so-called Quarter Casks. This storage of the Laphroaig Quarter Cask in barrels with a smaller capacity ensures that the whiskey has more contact with the surface of the American white oak barrels. Through this, the flavors from the Casks are transferred faster and stronger.
As it should be for a Laphroaig, this Islay whiskey is naturally characterized by its smoke-peat aroma.
The result is a Laphroaig with velvety sweetness, followed by the intense peatiness.

- Nose: lots of toffee and nutty aromas, plus tones of rum and juicy raisins - some vanilla
- Palate: at the beginning the Laphroaig Quarter Cask has an intense sweetness, very spicy and warming, smoke, iodine and peat - in the background sweet syrup
- Finish: medium-long finish, surprisingly fruity with notes of caramelized sugar and cigar smoke

typischer Laphroiag, insgesamt sehr salzig und "meerig", im Vergleich in ,einer Sammlung der spritzigste und schärfste der Laphroaigs. Nicht so sehr komplex aber ausdrucksstark und typisch (s.o.) wenn man also diesen speziellen Geschmack sucht genau das Richtige.
