Cotswolds: A term that is synonymous with untouched nature, sleepy cottages - and first-class single malt whisky. In the midst of the postcard idyll, the Cotswolds Distillery produces natural English whiskey from local, floor-malted barley in two copper pot stills. Its main feature? Fruity complexity.
For the Cotswolds Rum Cask Matured, the fruity single malt matured exclusively in former red wine casks that previously contained Caribbean rum took. With the third bottling of the limited series “Hearts & Crafts”, the team around Master Distiller Nickolas Franchino created such a very sweet, intense and yet excellently balanced dram.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Cotswolds Hearts & Crafts No. 3 - Rum Cask Matured tastes like
- Nose: sweet, full aromas of ripe tropical fruits, especially papaya and mango, plus juicy raisins and dark cherries - behind them are slightly spicy hints of Cane sugar and a little vanilla
- Palate: Mouth-filling with a little water and a soft taste - the fruity notes are intense, the sweetness is clear but not dominant - ripe fruits and slightly spicy tones go hand in hand
- Finish: long sweet finish - the fruity notes are joined by herbs and spicy oak
