This single malt is first matured in classic American white oak bourbon casks, which creates a solid foundation. This is followed by a second maturation in carefully selected red wine barrels, which gives it additional complexity and depth.
The Isle of Jura Distillery is located on the remote island of Jura on the west coast of Scotland, where more deer than people live. Whiskey has been produced there – with interruptions – since 1810. The current distillery was rebuilt in the 1960s and is known for its tall stills, which enable a particularly fine raw spirit.
With the Red Wine Cask Finish, Jura combines traditional production methods with modern cask art. The combination of classic bourbon maturation and further maturation in red wine casks makes this bottling an exciting example of the distillery's innovative cask policy.
