Portrait: What makes the Bunnahabhain 12 years.
The 12-year-old Bunnahabhain is an Islay malt of a somewhat more unusual kind. And it reflects well the typical character of the distillery in the northeast of the island. The Bunnahabhain is traditionally finer, milder and, above all, less peat-shaped than many of its famous Islay neighbors. The Bunnahabhain 12 years matured in two different barrel types: former Spanish sherry barrels and ex-bourbon barrels. This provides clear vanilla and fruit aromas as well as nutty notes and a nice malty sweetness. And above all is the Bunnahabhain-typical maritime note with the slight saltiness of a fresh sea breeze.
The Bunnahabhain also goes its own way when it comes to volume percentages. Bottled with a rather unusual 46.3%, this whisky has enough power to fully develop its character, but also tolerates a little water. According to taste.
The fine malt is wonderfully amber-colored in the glass - its natural color, shaped by the barrels. The addition of sugar color was also avoided, as was the cooling filtration process. Pure enjoyment. The Bunnahabhain traditionally comes in the characteristic, compact "Dumpy Bottles" with the label that shows a sailor.
On the market for around 40 years, the 12-year-old Bunnahabhain has been a real classic among Islam's single malt whiskies. One you should know.

- Nose: Fresh and delicately salty, nutty aromas, somewhat caramel-like sweetness and a hint of smoke
- Palate: Fruity sweetness combines maritime freshness. In addition vanilla, walnuts sherry and notes of oak.
- Finish: Long with a slight sweetness

Immer wieder gut
