English Harbour
Until the abolition of slavery in 1834, Antigua was one of the largest rum producers in the British Empire, before production almost entirely ceased in the second half of the 19th century. It wasn't until 1932 that eight small rum shop owners joined forces to found the Antigua Distillery Limited, reviving the island's former significance - to this day, descendants of four founding families (Farara, DeFreitas, Diaz and Fernandez) remain involved in the business, now in their fourth generation. The English Harbour brand itself, named after the historic naval harbour and former Royal Navy base on Antigua, was created in 1993, and the launch of the first five-year-old bottling in 2001 laid the foundation for the brand's continued focus on aged rums today.

Who founded the Antigua Distillery?
In 1932, eight small rum shop owners joined forces to revive Antigua's once-significant rum tradition, which had nearly died out in the 19th century. Descendants of four founding families still run the company today, now in their fourth generation.
Where does the name English Harbour come from?
English Harbour is a historic natural harbour on Antigua that once served as an important Royal Navy base - a fitting namesake for a brand honouring the Caribbean's British naval tradition.
Flavour profile
Taste: Light and elegant with tropical fruit, vanilla and a subtle, slightly briny note - a characteristic attributed to the wild yeast and the distillery's coastal location.
Recommended enjoyment: Neat or on the rocks for the aged bottlings, also ideal as the base for a classic rum punch.
Start with English Harbour 5 Year Old.
