The Lagavulin distillery is located on Scotland's westernmost Hebridean island of Islay - once a year Lagavulin bottles their version for Diageo's Distillers Edition series.
This single malt whisky receives additional maturation in ex-Pedro Ximenez casks - Spain's darkest sherry.
Nose: Intense aromas of peat and vanilla, plus sweet raisins and roasted malt - above all smoke and iodinated peat
Palate: Full body with a distinct, grassy malt tone - then more and more peat and smoke - light salty moments, plus roasted coffee, again vanilla and traces of fruit
Finish: very long finish with lots of fruit and peat - spicy oak
