The Balvenie Distillery was founded in 1892 by William Grant in Dufftown, has its own traditional malting floor and its own cooperage and belongs to William Grant & Sons.
Tasting Notes: What Balvenie 12 Year Old The Sweet Toast of American Oak Tastes Like
- Nose: Lots of malt and soft fudge, then aromas of citrus fruit, spicy oak and some vanilla – cinnamon and ginger over everything
- Palate: At first again the citrus fruit, above all oranges, plus some cane sugar and again the fudge – then vanilla and mild honey, spicy oak again in the background
- Finish: Long and malty – vanilla, oak and spicy tones remain for a long time
