El Ron Prohibido Habanero 12 Jahre 40%vol. 1,75l
Product number:
19029
The forbidden rum got its name already in the early 18. Century, the Spaniards conquered the new world in South America and brought home-made products - including Spanish sherry in barrels.
On the return trip to Spain these barrels were filled with freshly distilled rum called Chinguirito or Habanero (named after the last stop on the sea voyage back to Spain, namely Havana, Cuba!).
During the voyage the rum matured in the Spanish sherry casks to a sweet, fruity rum, which became very popular in Spain.
The Spanish wine and sherry manufacturers saw their existence threatened and led the Spanish king to ban the Habanero.
The Ron Prohibido is produced in the Solera process and stored over 12 years in oak barrels.
