Profile: What Makes Arran Quarter Cask Special
Arran’s Quarter Cask in new packaging: only quarter casks with a capacity of 125 litres were selected for this bottling. The whisky first matured in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, then for at least 18 months in smaller quarter casks made of American white oak. In the sample it is easy to get to know.
The Arran Distillery in Lochranza was founded by Harold Currie, a former director of Chivas Brothers.
Tasting Notes: What Arran Quarter Cask Tastes Like
- Nose: Right at the start the citrus fruit aromas Arran is known for, plus sweet spice of cinnamon and vanilla; white grape and peach, cocoa and caramelised malt
- Palate: Distinct pineapple and fresh apple pie with toasted brioche – plus the citrus fruit again and malty notes
- Finish: Long and balanced with spicy tones, some lemon and vanilla
