Profile: What Makes Millstone 100 Rye Special
The “100” in the name is the programme: the whisky is made of 100% rye, distilled 100% in a small pot still, matured over 100 months in 100% new American oak barrels and bottled at 50% ABV. The rye is 49% malted and 51% unmalted.
On the nose it is deliciously fragrant with orange blossom, roasted lemon and a touch of thyme; herbal notes of fennel, cardamom, nutmeg, liquorice root and cloves join in.
