Smokehead - old Design

Profile: The Smokehead at a glance

  • Typical Islay: Lush peat with heavy smoke
  • Striking design: Pleasure under the sign of the skull
  • Scottish secret: Which distillery is behind this malt...
  • Attractive price: The Smokehead offers much Islay for the money

Portrait: What makes the Smokehead special

Under the name Smokehead the Ian McLeod Distillers have been rocking the single Malt Market. The modern striking metal tube with skull contains a typical Islay malt.

However, we will not reveal from which distillery he comes. Many whisky fans tap on one of the well-known names from the south coast of the island. Because above all from there come the heavily peated, powerful, smoky whiskies, whose Character one usually associates with Islay. And in this tradition is also the Smokehead. Peat, smoke and maritime notes are unmistakable. But the Smokehead definitely has more to offer. Spicy notes and a wonderful, distinct fruitiness.

Even if friends of the smoking faction get their money's worth here - He's not one-dimensional, the malt with the skull. The Smokehead is a fine excellent single malt with an excellent price-enjoyment ratio relationship.

And where it comes from, we can all wonder and exchange ideas ...

Tasting Notes: This is what the Smokehead tastes like

  • Nose: strong, with thick, heavy wood smoke - intense with aromas of earthy peat - strong and spicy, paired with a slight sweetness - one recognizes fresh lemons, ginger and thick plum jam and a fresh sea breeze
  • Palate: almost breathtaking, very peppery, maritime notes, in addition a lot, a lot of peat and soot - then a light honey sweetness before the smoke returns to the comes to the fore
  • Finish: exotic spices and again the fresh lemons, plus hints of of mandarins - and then the peat comes back with all its strength!
